The venue is run by elder son Carwyn, his wife Emily, younger son Alun and his partner Ellen, and daughter Carys with her husband Llyr. Carwyn, who speaks passionately about the venue’s vision, explained, “We’re specialising in weddings and events, ranging from intimate gatherings for 30 guests to larger celebrations for up to 300.”

“We want Green Grove Barns to be an extension of the countryside that surrounds us,” Carwyn continued. “When guests arrive for the first time, they are immediately struck by the stunning views. It’s often the scenery that sells the venue.”
Sustainability and Authenticity
The venue is designed to blend modern and traditional elements, with a strong focus on sustainability and authenticity. The Rees family has worked tirelessly to ensure that every aspect of Green Grove aligns with their values, from the architecture of the barn to the sustainable practices employed throughout.
In addition to the wedding venue, Green Grove Barns also offers on-farm barn accommodation that can host up to 21 guests and their pets. This allows friends and family to experience the beauty of Carmarthenshire together, making it a true destination for any celebration.

The venue’s conversion took three and a half years to complete, beginning with the renovation of a five-bedroom farmhouse, followed by the restoration of the venue itself, and then the creation of additional accommodation including a two-bed cowshed and a three-bed coach house. The family also runs Danyrallt Farm in Llandovery, where they milk a dairy herd, as well as a caravan and glamping site, Erwlon.
“We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve created here,” said Carwyn. “Our parents and uncle have been a big driving force, motivating us and always on hand with support. Their ideas and energy have been invaluable.”

While Green Grove Barns is primarily focused on weddings, it has already hosted a variety of events, including charity balls, corporate gatherings, and milestone celebrations. “It’s amazing to look back and see what we’ve achieved already. It’s a huge privilege to host any event here and play such an important part in these special occasions,” Carwyn shared.
The venue’s recent open day was a resounding success, drawing in many local businesses that form part of the “Green Grove family.” The event showcased the strength of the local community and the venue’s commitment to supporting fellow Welsh businesses.

Managing the venue is local events manager Sera Davies, who brings a wealth of experience and a passion for the Carmarthenshire area. “It’s a huge advantage that Sera is local, a Welsh speaker, and shares our vision for the venue,” Carwyn said. “As a new business, supporting the local community and businesses is crucial to us.”
Bringing people together for events with meaning, particularly for charities close to their hearts, has already been a highlight for the Rees family. “We love hosting events that give back to the community,” Carwyn added. “Whether it’s a wedding or a charity fundraiser, it’s about creating lasting memories in a place that feels like home.”
