BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) – An expansive 1,800-acre ranch located just six miles south of Williston has been transformed into a thriving wedding and event venue, offering couples a unique setting for their celebrations.
The River Ranch, which opened in November 2024, features a spacious venue hall, bar area, and attached lodging. The lodge itself spans 7,700 square feet, providing ample space for guests to enjoy both the event and their stay. Amaya Theetge, the property and event manager, shared that the ranch offers a comprehensive experience for visitors, surrounded by the scenic beauty of the Missouri River.
The venue was purchased by Troy and Kayla Girolamo, who have been part of the Williston community for over 15 years. Their vision was to create a space where they could give back to the area by turning the property into a versatile event and lodging venue. According to Theetge, the Girolamos saw an opportunity to offer something unique for the local community.
For couples like Kate Jacobson and her fiancé, the River Ranch proved to be the ideal location for their spring wedding. “The lodging is something you don’t get with many venues,” Jacobson noted. “Especially in North Dakota, you can’t find a venue where you can spend the night and be with family and friends the entire wedding weekend.”
Jacobson also highlighted the venue’s stunning location, which is perfect for an outdoor ceremony. “The scenery is amazing. It’s right by the river, and I think it has everything – the badlands, the prairie, and the river,” she added.
Guests and event planners alike have expressed appreciation for the comprehensive offerings at the River Ranch. Theetge emphasized that the venue is fully furnished and decorated, making it convenient for clients. “People can just come in and enjoy their event without worrying about hauling equipment or supplies. They just pack their suitcase and bring what they need,” she explained.
As the venue continues to grow, the staff remains committed to making each event a memorable experience for couples, families, and the greater Williston community. With its breathtaking location and full-service amenities, the River Ranch is quickly becoming a sought-after destination for weddings and special events in the area.
